मेमोरी कंप्यूटर का एक अंग है, जो डाटा और अनुदेशों को स्टोर करता है। मेमोरी कंप्यूटर को जल्दी और आसानी से डाटा और अनुदेशों को प्रोसेस करने में मदद करती है। मेमोरी के दो प्रकार होते हैं: प्राथमिक मेमोरी और द्वितीयक मेमोरी। प्राथमिक मेमोरी कंप्यूटर के सीपीयू के पास होती है, और इसमें वह डाटा और अनुदेश स्टोर होते हैं, जिनका प्रोसेसिंग करना होता है। प्राथमिक मेमोरी के दो भाग होते हैं: रैम (Random Access Memory) और रोम (Read Only Memory)। रैम वोलेटाइल होती है, यानि कि इसमें स्टोर किया गया डाटा तभी तक रहता है, जब तक कंप्यूटर चालू हो। रोम नॉन-वोलेटाइल होती है, यानि कि इसमें स्टोर किया गया डाटा कंप्यूटर के बंद होने के बाद भी रहता है।² द्वितीयक मेमोरी कंप्यूटर के सीपीयू से दूर होती है, और इसमें वह डाटा और अनुदेश स्टोर होते हैं, जिनका प्रोसेसिंग नहीं करना होता है, या जो बाद में प्रोसेस किए जाने वाले हैं। द्वितीयक मेमोरी नॉन-वोलेटाइल होती है, यानि कि इसमें स्टोर किया गया डाटा कंप्यूटर के बंद होने के बाद भी रहता है। द्वितीयक मेमोरी के उदाहरण हैं: हार्ड डिस्क, फ्लॉपी डिस्क, सीडी, डीवीडी, पेन ड्राइव, ...
